The dance show REVEL REVEL by choreographer Roser López Espinosa was performed by the Zagreb Dance Company last night 30 July in Gradac Park.
Five women which form the REVEL REVEL team, Margareta Firinger, Andreja Jandrić, Sintija Kučić, Gendis Putri Kartini and Linda Tarnovski, took the festival audience on an exploration of freedom. Each, though different, is connected share parts of their history, roads travelled and the determination to question the nature of their own freedom which is not easy to grasp. Through the choreography done by the world-renowned dance artist Roser López Espinosa, they journeyed from exaltation to exhaustion, entered the subconscious, as well identified boundaries that have become invisible and what is needed to become aware of them. Through strong physicality, and acrobatic components, which are both signature elements of López Espinosa’s choreography style and the foundation of the story of REVEL REVEL, the dancers questioned personal freedoms, individual empowerment and community.
