Blend of art and technology awarded

A mobile subtitling VIP script application, co-developed by the Dubrovnik Summer Festival and its long-time general sponsor Vipnet, in collaboration with the UX Passion agency, has won the Stevie Award bronze in the Experimental and Innovative Communication category in the International Business Awards competition in Paris.

Guest Performance of Ulysses Theater’s “King Lear” in Dubrovnik

Shakespeare’s “King Lear” directed by Lenka Udovički and performed by the Ulysses Theater, under the sponsorship of the City of Dubrovnik and the Dubrovnik Tourist Board will take place on Friday and Saturday, 29th and 30th August.

Greatest artistic achievements on the 65th Festival awarded with Orlando

The Croatian radio-television has announced the winners of this year's Orlando Awards and handed them their prize for the best achievements in the drama and music part of the Festival's program. The winners were Neva Rošić and the Croatian Baroque Ensemble. The awarding ceremony took place last night, 25th August, in front of St. Blaise’s Church, after the concert which marked the end of the 65th Dubrovnik Summer Festival.

65th Festival closed with Opera Gala program

The 65th Dubrovnik Summer Festival was closed with the Opera Gala concert, performed by the Zagreb Philharmonic, conducted by maestro Ivo Lipanović, and leading world baritone Željko Lučić and soprano Lana Kos, as part of the Vip program and in collaboration with the City of Zagreb, last night, 25th August, in front of St. Blaise’s Church.

79 programs successfully performed on 17 locations

Just like during previous years, this year the Dubrovnik Summer Festival gathered almost 2000 artists from all around the world, which performed 79 drama, music, ballet, folklore, movie and art programs on 17 scenic and ambient locations in 47 days, from 10th July to 25th August. For this occasion, a press conference was held on the last day of this year’s Festival in Villa Orsula’s restaurant Victoria. The speakers were Deputy Mayor of Dubrovnik Željko Raguž, Deputy County Prefect of the Dubrovačko – neretvanska County Davorko Obuljen, Executive Director of the Festival Ivana Medo Bogdanović, Artistic Director Krešimir Dolenčić and Head of Corporate Communications at Vipnet Dubravka Jusić.

Jazz diva Nnenna Freelon charms Festival audience

One of the greatest jazz singers and proud owner of six Grammy nominations, Nnenna Freelon performed last night, 24th August, on the 65th Dubrovnik Summer festival, on the Fort Revelin terrace. The concert was sponsored by Siemens and was also her premiere performance in Croatia.

A cheerful homage to the Baroque for this year's last concert in the Rector's Palace

The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the Italian conductor Nicola Giuliani, bassoonist Matija Novaković and pianist Diana Brekalo performed last night, 23d August, in the Rector’s Palace atrium and played the works of Gian Francesco Malipieri, Milko Kelemen and Alfred Castella.

Opera Gala with star singers for the closing of the 65th Festival

The closing ceremony of the 65th Dubrovnik Summer Festival will be marked by the Opera Gala concert, which will be performed by the Zagreb Philharmonic, conducted by maestro Ivo Lipanović, with the world’s leading baritone Željko Lučić and soprano Lana Kos, as part of the Vip program and in cooperation with the City of Zagreb. It will take place on Monday, 25th August, in front of the Saint Blaise church at 10 p.m. There will be an awarding ceremony after the concert, during which the Orlando Awards for the best achievements in the theater and music program of the Festival will be given to the winners, finally followed by the closing ceremony of the 65th Dubrovnik Summer Festival.
