Full glory of voice and piano shown by Mimica and Madrigal

The musical programme of the 74th Dubrovnik Summer Festival brought yet another brilliant performance last night, 28 July in the Rector’s Palace, this time by the world-renowned bass baritone Marko Mimica and the award-winning pianist Marcos Madrigal, who, with a programme specially created for the Festival, showed in full glory all the possibilities of voice and instrument, i.e. the piano, to the great delight of the Dubrovnik audience.

Award Winning Croatian Film from Pula Film Festival screened at the 74th Dubrovnik Summer Festival

Vedrana Pribačić and Mirta Puhlovski's documentary film Bigger Than Trauma, winner of the Grand Golden Arena at this year's anniversary 70th Pula Film Festival, was shown yesterday, 27 July at the Jadran Open-air Cinema in cooperation with Dubrovnik Cinemas as part of the 74th Dubrovnik Summer Festival.

Renowned Croatian bass-baritone Marko Mimica and Cuban pianist Marcos Madrigal will perform on Friday, 28 July at 9:30 pm in the Rector’s Palace atrium. The festival audience can expect an interesting musical evening with a lieder and arias programme specially created for the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.

An impressive guitar recital by Krešimir Bedek

The varied musical program of the 74th Dubrovnik Summer Festival continued last night, 26 July in the Rector’s Palace atrium with the virtuoso Krešimir Bedek’s guitar recital. Judging by the applause, the festival audience truly enjoyed the carefully crafted concert programme, which included the first performance of the Sonata Movement for Guitar by the Croatian composer Ivan Josip Skender.

Bigger Than Trauma at Jadran Open-air Cinema

The screening of the Golden Arena winning feature film from this year's anniversary 70th Pula Film Festival, is brought by the Dubrovnik Summer Festival in cooperation with Dubrovnik Cinemas to the Jadran Open-air Cinema, as is by now a beloved tradition, and the festival audience will be watching Vedrana Pribačić’s and Mirta Puhlovski’s Bigger Than Trauma tonight, 26 July at 9:30 p.m. While the entrance is free, the number of seats is limited. The cinema doors open at 9 p.m.

Lorca's Blood Wedding returns to Lokrum from Thursday

Last year's premiere and Festival success, the play Blood Wedding directed by Franka Perković Gamulin and performed by the Festival Drama Ensemble, returns to the programme of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival from Thursday, 27 July to Saturday, 29 July on the Island of Lokrum, with 9.30 p.m. being the starting time of all performances.

Janoska Ensemble makes the audience in Rector’s Palace sing

The virtuoso musicians of the Janoska Ensemble performed in the Rector’s Palace last night, 24 July and with their impeccable musicianship, imaginative improvisations and immense enthusiasm won the hearts of the audience, whom they even made sing.

Ovations from the audience for the second theatre premiere Twelfth Night, or What You Will

The second theatre premiere at the 74th Festival, co-produced by the Dubrovnik Summer Festival and the Zagreb Youth Theatre, Twelfth Night, or What You Will by Grzegorz Jarzyna and Roman Pawłowski based on the motifs from William Shakespeare's eponymous play had its first performance last night, 21 July at Dubrovnik’s Lovrjenac Fort. The festival audience greeted this contemporary interpretation of the timeless classic with long applause and ovations.
