Dubrovnik Symphonists and Goran Filipec under the baton of Eduardo Strausser impressed the large festival crowd in front of the Cathedral

The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra under the baton of the Brazilian maestro Eduardo Strausser and the piano virtuoso Goran Filipec held a magnificent concert, sponsored by Kraš, last evening 18 August and with a brilliant performance of pieces by Franz Liszt and Robert Schumann impressed the large festival audience gathered in front of the Cathedral.

On Sunday another Linđo festival performance in front of the Cathedral

To the delight of the audience, the Linđo Folklore Ensemble will be performing once again at the 72nd Dubrovnik Summer Festival, on Sunday 22 August at 9 p.m. in front of the Cathedral.

Messiaen’s Poems for Mi by Harlequin Art Collective at Bunić-Kaboga Summer Villa

The unique ensemble with a new and unusual sound, the Harlequin Art Collective is composed of flutist Dani Bošnjak, trombone player Alan Bošnjak, vibraphonist Šimun Matišić, accordion player Stjepan Vuger and soprano Marta Schwaiger. Supported by the Caboga Stiftung foundation, the five virtuosos will be performing Poèmes pour Mi by Olivier Messiaen on Thursday, 19 August at 9.30pm in the Bunić-Kaboga Summer Villa.

“Lion House” premieres this Friday on the playground below Minčeta Fort

The premiere of the Ivan Salečić play Lion House as adapted by Marijana Fumić, directed by Aida Bukvić and performed by the Festival Drama Ensemble, is on the 72nd Dubrovnik Summer Festival programme on Friday, 20 August on the playground below Minčeta Fort. On that occasion a press conference was held in the Festival palace with speakers being the author Ivan Salečić, director Aida Bukvić, dramaturge Marijana Fumić, the Festival’s Creative Director Dora Ruždjak Podolski and Josipa Vodenac, Director of the OTP Bank Business Center Dubrovnik and Southern Dalmatia – the play’s sponsor.

Fun and educational musical workshop delights children in the Rector’s Palace

The popular young American pianist and electronic music composer Evan Shinners held an interactive workshop Musical Play for Children with Igor Jurinić as the narrator last night, Saturday 14 August in the Rector’s Palace atrium. The programme which is supported by the Caboga Stiftung foundation will be on the 72nd Festival schedule for tonight only, in two time slots, at 19.30pm for children ages 4 to 7 and at 9pm for children from 7 to 12 years old. Attendance is free with tickets collected prior to the event at the box office on location.

The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra will be performing under the baton of Brazilian conductor Eduardo Strausser and pianist Goran Filipec on Wednesday, 18 August in front of the Cathedral at 9.30pm. The concert, sponsored by Kraš, will feature works of Franz Liszt and Robert Schumann.

Ovations for Martina Filjak, Felix Klieser and Andrej Bielow at Rector’s Palace

Pianist Martina Filjak hornist Felix Klieser and violinist Andrej Bielow held a concert last night, Thursday 12 August in the Rector’s Palace atrium impressing the festival audience with their performances of pieces by Duvernoy, Schumann, Dukas, Wieniawski and Brahms.

Another outstanding edition of the “Dubrovnik on a Rock of Music” programme

The unique programme, supported by the Caboga Stiftung foundation, Dubrovnik on a Rock of Music gathered top Dubrovnik musicians last night, 10 August, in the Rector’s Palace atrium under the baton of maestro Tomislav Fačini. The masterful ensemble and marvelous soloists Lovro Merčep on saxophone, pianist Marija Grazio and mezzosoprano Dubravka Šeparović Mušović, with their exceptional interpretation of the evening’s choice repertoire consisting of works by Debussy, Ibert, Đurović and Mahler, surpassed all the high expectations thrilling the crowd in the packed Rector’s Palace.

Lero’s South Wind on Friday at Lazareti

The Lero Student Theatre is traditionally part of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival drama programme, and at its the 72nd edition they will put on their most recent production South Wind directed by author Davor Mojaš on Friday, 13 August at 9.30pm at Lazareti. Tickets are sold out.
