The Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb is the central and oldest theatre house in Croatia, which hosts three ensembles: Opera, Drama and Ballet.
Annually it stages at least twelve premieres and twenty repeat productions, resulting in over 220 performances per season. As the principal national theatre, the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb has a diverse repertoire consisting of works of domestic authors of different styles and periods as well as classical and contemporary works by international authors.

In recent years, the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb has positioned itself as a relevant theatre in Europe and globally; it regularly hosts foreign productions, while its three permanent ensembles perform on international stages. With its increasingly diverse audiences and productions which are at times sold out months ahead, the Croatian National Theatre is a significant factor in the cultural life of Zagreb.

In recent seasons, it has produced and/or co-produced numerous important international projects, such as the World Theatre Festival, and successfully applied for EU funds, which has enabled numerous collaborations.

The Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb is a member of Opera Europa, FEDORA and European Theatre Convention.
