Toni Kursar was born in Dubrovnik in 1983. He finished horn studies at the Art high school Luka Sokočević, in class of Prof.Ildous Galioulline. In 2002 he enroled Zagreb Music Academy. He studied in class of Professors Mateić, Detiček, and in 2006 he graduated with excellent success in class of Prof. Lipovšek. At Music State Competition he won two first prizes (in 2000, and 2002) and one third prize (in 1998). He was a participant of Lions Grand prix Competition for young musicians in Rijeka and EMCY (European Music Competition for Youth) Competition in Aix les Bains (France 2001). He also recorded performances as a member of Academy Wind Quintet under the leadership of Prof. Prerad Detiček, and in 2004 he received Rector`s Award of Zagreb University, ‘’Ivo Vuljević’’ Award for Croatian musical youth, and third award at European Music Competition for Youth (EMCY) in Dubrovnik. In 2017. at Papandopulo music competition have won Croatian composers society’s award for best performance of Croatian composer piece. He collaborated with YMISO (Young Musician International Symphony Orchestra), Young Danube Philharmonic, Junge Philharmonie Salzburg, Mostar Symphony Orchestra, Montenegro symphony orchestra,Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, Croatian Chamber Orchestra, Zagreb Philharmonic, Nordic Chamber Orchestra and Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra. He attended master classes of H. Baumann, A. Friedrich, R. Vlatković, Re Wekre, F. Gablera, L. Garcie, B. Lipovšek. In 2006 he enroled postgraduate studies in the class of Prof. Radovan Vlatković at Universität für Musik und Dastellende Kunst “Mozarteum” Salzburg and in 2008 he had his master’s degree with excellent marks. Since 2009. he holds first horn position at Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra.
