Franka Perković Gamulin was born in Zagreb in 1969. After graduating from the Language Education Centre, she studied Comparative Literature, Linguistics and Philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. In 2005 she received her degree in Theatre Directing and Broadcasting from the Academy of Dramatic Art, University of Zagreb. Over the last twenty-five years she has directed dozens of theatre plays, including M. Krleža’s Adam and Eve at the Kufer Theatre Company, J.B.P. Molière’s Don Juan at the Croatian National Theatre Split, I. Sajko’s An Orange in the Clouds at the Croatian National Theatre Osijek, D. Mihanović’s The Frog at the &TD Theatre Zagreb, I. Sajko’s Europa at the Zagreb Youth Theatre, N. Mitrović’s Fuck, How Many of Us There Are at the Kerempuh Theatre Zagreb, H. Sigurjonsson’s Our Boy at the Gavella City Theatre Zagreb, M. Krleža’s The Ballads of Petrica Kerempuh at the Gavella City Theatre, T. Zajec’s Saved at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, S. Pilić and M. Nola’s Crumbs From the Living Room at the Žar Ptica Theatre Zagreb, A. Strindberg’s Miss Julie at the Croatian National Theatre Šibenik, T. She has received numerous awards and accolades: the Award for Directing at the Marulić Days Festival in Split (Adam and Eve), the Croatian Actor Award for Best Play (The Frog), the Actors Festival Award for Best Play (The 39 Steps), the Croatian Actor Award for Best Children’s Play (Crumbs From the Living Room), the Jury Grand Prix for Best Play and the Audience Award at the Pozorište Zvezdarište Festival in Belgrade (Crumbs From the Living Room), the Audience Award for Best Play at the Marulić Days Festival in Split (Someone Should Walk the Dog) and the Audience Award for Best Play Performed by the Croatian Company of the Croatian National Theatre Ivan Zajc Rijeka (Leica Format).

Alongside Dora Ruždjak, she is a founder and long-time Artistic Director of the Kufer Theatre Company and the Ruždjak & Perković Art Organisation. From 2000 to 2005 she was Artistic Director of Children’s Theatre Dubrava in Zagreb. Since 2009 she has served as a lecturer at the Acting Department of the Academy of Dramatic Art, University of Zagreb.
