New festival program entitled Key to the Future that presents young laureates of prestigious international music competitions will be opened this Sunday, 14 August at 9:30 PM in the Rector's Palace atrium with piano recital by Andrew Tyson. For the festival audience that still holds great impressions of last year Tyson’s performance, young pianist has prepared Domenico Scarlatti'sthree sonatas, Frederic Chopin's three mazurkas, Alexander Scriabin's Piano Sonata No. 3, Isaac Albéniz's Iberia (book 1) and Spanish Rhapsody by Franz Liszt.
Hailed by BBC Radio 3 as “a real poet of the piano,” Andrew Tyson is emerging as a distinctive and important new musical voice. He is consistently recognized for his commanding and expressive performances, replete with imaginative interpretations and exceptional artistry. In the season 2014-2015 he delivered a splendid debut at the Great Hall of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky conservatory and at the Moscow International performing Arts Center in the frame of the Art-November International Arts Festival and was immediately reinvited to open the festival “Vladimir Spivakov invites” and to tour in Russia in October - November 2015. As a result osf this invitation, Andrew Tyson appeared throughout Russia in autumn 2015 with four recitals and as a soloist with the Kostroma Governor Symphonic Orchestra and the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra under the button of Vladimir Spivakov. A winner of the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in the USA in 2011, a laureate of the Leeds International Piano Competition in 2012 and of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2013, in July 2015 Andrew Tyson captured First Prize at the Géza Anda Competition in Zürich, where he was also awarded the Mozart and Audience Prizes.
His solo concert at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival in August 2015 was welcomed with great enthusiasm of audience and music criticism. The effect of these extraordinary impressions is Tyson's project for the Dubrovnik Summer Festival - Key to the Future, which consists of a series of concerts of exceptionally talented young musicians led by Andrew Tyson himself.
