Ahead of the Opening Ceremony of the 74th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, a formal session of the Festival Council under the chairmanship of the Minister of Culture and Media Nina Obuljen Koržinek, Ph.D. was held on 10 July in the Festival Palace.
In attendance were Council members: Deputy Mayor of Dubrovnik Jelka Tepšić, Head of the Administrative Department of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County Prefect Žaklina Marević, Academic Musician Frano Matušić, Professor of Croatian studies and Linguistics Sanja Putica. Also attending were the Festival Leadership: Executive Director Ivana Medo Bogdanović, Artistic Director Dora Ruždjak Podolski, Assistant Artistic Directors for Music and Theatre, respectively Tomislav Fačini and Saša Božić.
The programme of the 74th Festival season was announced at the meeting, as well as the current artistic leadership’s almost six-year mandate being summarized as well. Minister of Culture and Media Nina Obuljen Koržinek, Ph.D. expressed her support for this year’s programme and thanked the Artistic Director and her Assistants for their impeccable leadership so far and the new momentum in the development of the oldest Croatian festival, which she has witnessed in the past five years. Minister Obuljen Koržinek also pointed to the fine balance between the Festival’s tradition and the need to offer the audience the peaks of national and international art through the Dubrovnik Summer Festival programme. She asserted how she is aware that this fact meant thankless production conditions, thanking the artistic leadership which have, in cooperation with JUK (Public Institution in Culture) Dubrovnik Summer Festival, always been able to find new energy overcoming obstacles.
