This year's 32nd Croatian Theatre Awards were officially presented last night at the Croatian National Theatre, and the play Ekvinocijo, which premiered at the 75th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, won four awards, out of seven nominations!
The best drama play overall was the play "Ekvinocijo", directed by Krešimir Dolenčić and produced by the 75th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, and Dolenčić also received the award for best directorial achievement in a drama for the same play.
The actors of the play "Ekvinocijo", Zrinka Cvitešić, who played the character of Jela, and Goran Višnjić, who played the character of Niko Marinović in the play, won the awards for the main female and male roles in the play.
The second drama premiere of the 75th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Ekvinocijo by Ivo Vojnović directed by Krešimir Dolenčić, premiered on 27th July 2024 at the new festival location, the Posat boatyard. The festival audience was moved by this new interpretation of Vojnović's work and rewarded the entire creative team with standing ovations and long-lasting applause.
In addition to director Krešimir Dolenčić, the creative team consists of composer Stanko Juzbašić, set designer Dinka Jeričević, costume designer Leo Kulaš, lighting designer Tomislav Maglečić, sound designer Đoni Čučević, language advisor Maro Martinović, choreographer Zrinka Japunčić, stage manager Roko Grbin, assistant director Roza Jurić, assistant set designers Marta Dolenčić and Marta Mršić, and sound operator Aljoša Reljić. The musicians on the recording are Vid Veljak (cello, voice), Stanko Juzbašić (guitars, trumpet, voice) and Davor Rocco (musician).
The cast consists of: Goran Grgić in the role of Fran Dražić, Goran Višnjić in the role of Niko Marinović, Maro Martinović as Vlaho Slijepi, Karlo Mrkša as Ivo Ledinić, Joško Ševo as the barcarole Pavo, Toni Kukuljica as Toni Perović, Branimir Vidić as Parok, Zrinka Cvitešić in the role of Jela, Ivo's mother, Lara Nekić in the role of Anica, Fran's daughter, Nika Lasić as Lucija, the girl in Fran Dražić's, Olivera Baljak in the role of Kate, Pavo's wife, Perica Martinović as Marija od posta, Mirej Stanić as Mare Pendova, Maro Drobnić as Marko Vojvodić and with the people and children, Jelica Čučević as Jelica, Ante Tonći Đurković as Tonći, Luka Bokić as Luka, Toma Tolj as Toma, Roko Roca as Vicko Lise, Nikolina Krupec as Nike, Nea Martinović as Mare, Petrunjela Baće as Pere, Nea Njirić as Perica, Erin Saltarić as Baldo and Božo Petrić in the role of an old sailor.
Director Krešimir Dolenčić dedicated the play to his teacher, Joško Juvančić Jupa.
