

More than two thousand local and foreign artists will take part in the 76th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, which this year are especially inspired by women. During the 47 festival days, from 10th July to 25th August, 2025, the festival audience can expect over 70 performances of drama, music, dance, art and other programs at 15 stage and ambient locations in the city of Dubrovnik - it was said today at a press conference on the occasion of the presentation of the program.
"We are very proud to announce the 76th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, which this year carries an inspiring festival theme - women. This year's program will be enriched with excellent female characters, themes and performances. Our audience will have the opportunity to enjoy performances by the world's music elite, such as Khatia Buniatishvili and Phillharmonix, to the beautiful voices of Sonya Yoncheva, Nino Machaidze, Vittorio Grigolo, Marko Mimica and many others, some of whom are in Croatia for the first time, and that is precisely at our Dubrovnik Summer Festival. In addition to the numerous fascinating, inspiring and unforgettable female characters in acting, music and creativity, we have a special focus for the City on two important anniversaries: the 100th anniversary of the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and the 60th anniversary of the Linđo Folklore Ensemble, which we will celebrate with joy and pride on our open-air stages, in front of the Church of St. Blaise and In Front of the Cathedral,” pointed out Martina Filjak, artistic director of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.
The director of the drama program, Senka Bulić, also paid special attention to this year's festival theme. "This year's focus is on women's themes, female characters, what is specifically connected to the female experience. Strong female figures from antiquity to modern times. Titles that speak from the depths of history, and are very relevant to us today," said drama director Senka Bulić.
The backbone of this year's drama program consists of three big premiere titles - the cult Goldoni's Le Baruffe Chiozzotte directed by Krešimir Dolenčić, then Medea S. Stone and Müller directed by Martin Kušej, and Chekhov's The Seagull directed by Janusz Kica. Among the reprised hits, we can expect Goldoni's La Bottega del Caffè, Vojnović's The Equinox and Shakespeare's The Thempest, as well as Mara and Kata, an author's project by Saša Božić realized in collaboration with Nataša Dangubić and Doris Šarić-Kukuljica. The Lero Student Theater is part of the Festival program again this year, and will perform the play Dreams of Lost Years, directed by Davor Mojaš.
The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, conducted by maestro Ivan Repušić, the Ivan Goran Kovačić choir, and soloists Darija Auguštan, Martina Mikelić, and Matteo Ivan Rašić will open the musical part of the Festival program, with the 100th anniversary of the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra entitled Ode to Joy, and it will be closed by a musical spectacle, a magnificent Opera Gala concert of a selected repertoire of the best opera arias, which will feature one of the most brilliant sopranos of today, Nino Machaidze, Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo, and world-renowned Croatian bass-baritone Marko Mimica, accompanied by the Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sebastian Lang Lessing. The opulence and diversity of the musical program will be enhanced by performances by leading Croatian and international artists. The festival audience will be introduced to the talented Georgian pianist Khatia Buniatishvili, and Sonya Yoncheva will perform her first recital in Croatia at the Rector's Palace, accompanied by world-renowned pianist and accompanist Malcolm Martineau. There are also great musicians from the Quinta Essentia ensemble, the most respected Croatian chamber ensemble Zagreb Soloists and violinist Alexandra Conunova, one of the most energetic guitar ensembles on the scene today, Trio Elogio, and mezzo-soprano Ivana Srbljan. In addition to the Croatian Baroque Ensemble and violinist Fabio Biondio, the concert will also be held by the British a cappella vocal ensemble The King's Singers, the piano trio Sitkovetsky trio, and the successful young pianist Jan Niković. The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, as an important part of Dubrovnik's rich and diverse cultural heritage, will hold a concert this season under the direction of maestro Valentin Egel with mezzo-soprano Dubravka Šeparović Mušović, and will feature a performance with cellist Alina Pogostkina under the direction of Gergely Madaras. With the aim of developing the audience, and following the example of the great world classical music festivals, the World Music Cycle continues, as part of which the JM Jazz Orchestra will perform under the artistic direction of Luis Bonilla, the L'arpeggiata Ensemble and Christina Pluhar with a program called Wonder Women, Mariarly Pacheco and Rhani Krija with the stunning rhythms of jazz will present the program Marocuba at the Revelin Fortress, and the Marcos de Silvia Trío will also find their place, enriching the musical program with flamenco rhythms. The Vienna Berlin Music Club, better known as Philharmonix, is also coming to Croatia for the first time, combining classics, jazz, pop and swing with its performances. The Rector's Palace also awaits us with a musical stage work by Ivica Kunčević and Brigita Masla Dražinić, Enigma Jarnović, directed by Helena Petković. The musical program at the Palace will end with a donation concert "Youth for Youth", led by the best young Croatian musicians, tenor Filip Filipović and violinist Matej Mijalić, performing with chamber ensembles from the Luka Sorkočević Art School.
From the dance program, the continuation of the cooperation with the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb, which will perform the ballet Giselle, as well as the performances of the Linđo Folklore Ensemble, stands out. The program for the youngest will be enriched by the Brothers Grimm and Ivana Čoh's play Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, performed by the Trešnja Municipal Theatre and directed by Ivana Čoh. This year's Festival have also prepared a rich art and exhibition program, and we can expect exhibitions by painter Dimitrije Popović, painter Ivona Šimunović, academic painter Antonia Rusković, and the Women of Dubrovnik exhibition created in collaboration between the Dubrovnik Summer Festival and the Dubrovnik Museums.
"The planned budget of the event is 2.5 million euros, which is 20% more than last year's realization, primarily thanks to increased funds from the Ministry of Culture. In the next 5 months until the start of the 76th Festival, we believe that such an attractive and high-quality program will attract new sponsors and a large audience," emphasized Ivana Medo Bogdanović, the director of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, and announced that tickets will be available for sale from February 10 on the Festival website www.dubrovnik-festival.hr and via the www.ulaznice.hr service with a two-week early bird discount of 20% and an additional 10% when paying with Mastercard cards.
