"The Melancholy Women of Ragusa" premiered in Gradac Park

The author of the text Marijana Fumić and the director Dora Ruždjak Podolski chose nine exceptional women while researching Dubrovnik's historical material from the 13th to the 20th century, combining their intriguing stories into a unique stage piece, The Melancholy Women of Ragusa, which premiered last night, 17 August in Gradac Park.

The audience followed the captivating, nostalgic journey through Dubrovnik's history from the perspective of nine women with bated breath. The directorial turn in stage and auditorium placement when choosing the location offered a new perspective towards the city itself, which Dora Ruždjak Podolski very effectively integrated into the play, while the actresses of The Melancholy Women of Ragusa led the audience through the lives and destinies of Dubrovnik’s women, where Marija Gučetić was embodied by Nataša Dangubić, Filip Menčetić by Gloria Dubelj, Maruša hodočasnica by Anica Kontić, Jelena Dorotka Hofmann by Nataša Kopeč, Jelena Pucić Sorkočević by Iva Kraljević, Anica Bošković by Lana Meniga, Pavle Ćelović by Lidija Penić-Grgaš, Lucija Miladinović by Lucija Rukavina, Nika Našimoka by Nikolina Prkačin, and all their men was Marin Klišmanić.

In addition to director Dora Ruždjak Podolski, the creative team consists of dramaturges Marijana Fumić and Stela Mišković, set designer Stefano Katunar, costume designer Manuela Paladin Šabanović, stage movement advisor Saša Božić, composer Maro Market, lighting designer Elvis Butković, speech advisor Maro Martinović and stage manager Roko Grbin.

The play is on the programme four more times: 18, 20, 21 August at 9.30 p.m. and at 10 p.m. on 19 August. The play is realized with donation from OTP Bank.
