Born in Dubrovnik, Croatia, Maroje Brčić began learning the guitar at the age of seven with his father, Stefanin Brčić. He graduated from the high school of music in the class of Prof. István Römer, and completed his Masters from the Zagreb Academy of Music in the class of Prof. Darko Petrinjak.

He has performed on the concert stage for almost thirty-five years as a soloist and as a member of various chamber ensembles. He has also been featured in many concertos as a soloist with a long list of orchestras (Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, Varaždin Chamber Orchestra, Zagreb Soloists, Mostar Chamber Orchestra, Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, Timisoara Philharmonic Orchestra, Macedonian National Opera Orchestra and Moscow Gnesin Virtuosos). In addition to his homeland, he has performed in Europe, Asia and North America.

Maroje Brčić is an esteemed Professor of Guitar at the Arts Academy in Split, where he is also the Vice Dean of the Music Department. He regularly participates on the judging panels at national and international competitions and often gives professional lectures and seminars. His students have won over a hundred first prizes at both national and prestigious international competitions.

He has received many awards and prizes, including the University of Zagreb Rector's Award (1991), the Milka Trnina Diploma (with the Dubrovnik Guitar Trio, 2008), the Oscar of Knowledge (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2017 and 2019), and the Orlando Award (2009 with Zoran Dukić and 2017 with the Croatian Guitar Quartet).

He currently resides in Dubrovnik. Apart from his concert and teaching duties, he has been the editor of the magazine Gitara, the annual journal of the Association of Croatian Guitar Pedagogues since 2018. He also wrote a book published by Matica Hrvatska in which he covers topics in the field of interpretation and playing techniques.

He has recorded ten CDs and one DVD for record companies in Croatia (Orfej HRT, Bestmusic, Croatia Records, Cantus) and in Austria (Ensemble electronique, Gramola).

Furthermore, he has inspired numerous composers to write for the guitar, including Željko Brkanović, Nikša Njirić, Ivo Josipović, Berislav Šipuš, Philip Bracanin, Goran Listeš, Anđelko Klobučar and Zoran Juranić.
