Vito Taufer was born in 1959 in Ljubljana. He graduated directing from the Academy of Theatre, Radio Film and Television in Ljubljana. Since 1989, he has been employed as director at the Slovenian Youth Theatre. Taufer collaborated with numerous theatres throughout the region and receivedmany international awards for his work. Today, his plays are a permanent fixture of Slovenian and international festivals in Europe and the world. In them, Taufer introduces pop iconography, the technique of parallel dramaturgy and other innovations with which he marked the theatrical production of the eighties and nineties. He directed about seventy plays, designed several sets and costumes, and was a musician in some of his plays.
