CONDUCTOR

Recognized for his charisma and powerful performances, Christian Vásquez continues to attract international attention and stands out as one of today's most sought-after Venezuelan conductors.

In 2013 he became Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra (2013-2019). In the 2015/2016 season, Christian Vásquez served as Principal Guest Conductor of the Arnhem Symphony Orchestra (until 2019). He served as Music Director of the Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra of Venezuela, with whom he toured throughout Europe and Asia, and as Principal Guest Conductor. He was then appointed to be Principal Guest Conductor of the Gävle Symphony Orchestra. Presently he is the co Chief Conductor at the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra and is Chief Conductor of the Landaeta Symphony Orchestra in Venezuela.

Vásquez has conducted prestigious orchestras including the the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, the Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Camerata Salzburg, the Russian State Symphony Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic, the Tokyo Philharmonic, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Israel Philharmonic, the Saarbrücken Radio Philharmonic in Kaiserslautern, the Berlin Konzerthausorchester, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Orchestre National du Capitole in Toulouse, the Radio France Philharmonic, the Belgian National Symphony Orchestra, and the Norwegian National Opera, conducting Bizet's Carmen, among many others.

During the 2024-2025 season, he was invited to lead the Tampere Symphony, the Tucson Symphony, the Wuppertal Symphony, the Baltic Philharmonic, the Morocco Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica, Colombia National Symphony Orchestra, Galicia Symphony Orchestra, Community Orchestra of Madrid (ORCAM), Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, Murcia Symphony Orchestraand and the the Landaeta Symphony Orchestra in Venezuela.

Concerts for the 2025-2026 season include re-invitations to lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Tampere Symphony, the Baltic Philharmonic, the the Pasdeloup Orchestra, the Moroccan Philharmonic Orchestra, the Murcia Symphony Orchestra, and he makes his debut with the Valencia Orchestra, the Costa Rica National Symphony Orchestra, the Orquestra Sinfónica do Paraná in Brazil, the Metropolitana Orchestra in Lisbon as well as the Córdoba Orchestra in Spain.

In 2024 he was nominated for the Grammys the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra´s “Credo”, he has also recorded alongside star trumpetist Pacho Flores and the Galicia Symphony for Deutsche Gramophone and with the Het Gelders Orkest with violinist Liza Ferschtman and the Prague Symphony Orchestra for Northstar, as well as a recording with Venezuelan Double Bass Edicson Ruiz and the Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra of Venezuela.

Vásquez recently collaborated with Gustavo Dudamel at the Paris Opera on the production of "Tristan and Isolde" and performed with the Paris Opera Ballet School at the Opéra Garnier.

Christian Vásquez is represented in Latin America, Spain and Portugal by Halac Artists.
