Miše Martinović (born in Postranje, Župa Dubrovačka, June 1, 1926 – died in Dubrovnik, August 1, 2021) was the greatest Dubrovnik actor of the 20th century. Through his work—primarily in theatre, but also in television and film—he left a significant mark on Croatian culture. For his contributions, Miše Martinović received all major professional awards in Croatian theatre and beyond. On the occasion of his 50th career anniversary, he was awarded the “Order of the Croatian Interlace.”
"Hommage to Miše Martinović", by author Hrvoje Juvančić, is a multimedia event dedicated to the life and work of the great artist. The homage will take the form of a live ambient biographical documentary, featuring narrator Zrinka Turalija, professor Matko Sršen, set designer Marin Gozze, and Martinović’s descendants—actors Perica and Maro Martinović. An exhibition of Miše Martinović’s theatrical portraits will be set up in the atrium of Sponza Palace, and in the St. Blaise Hall visitors will be able to view personal items from Miše’s life, photo memorabilia, and excerpts from his most significant theatrical roles.
