DANCE CONCERT
In 2024, the LADO Ensemble will celebrate a remarkable milestone, marking 75 years of artistic excellence. At the heart of this enduring success are the dedicated artists – dancers, singers, and musicians – whose precision, skill, and passion illuminate the rich intangible cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia.
The LADO Ensemble concert dance will showcase iconic pieces such as Valpovačko kolo and Linđo by Zvonimir Ljevaković. Alongside these classics, the concert will feature two renowned pieces from the Dinaric folklore, offering a glimpse into the dances, customs, and songs of western Herzegovina with works such as Kamen goro prozeleni rano by Vidoslav Bagur and Lički plesovi by Ivan Ivančan, Ph.D. Audiences will once again be enchanted by the lively songs, dances, and vibrant folk costumes from Baranja, highlighted by Ej, sviraj Pavo by Krunoslav Šokac. Additionally, the Alpine folklore will be represented by a captivating dance duet from Zagorje, choreographed by Senka Jurina. The musical intermezzo will showcase the enchanting melodies of Međimurje, including Da bi se zrušile te legradske gore and Božakov čardaš from Zelina, arranged by Alan Kanski. Energetic female dances and songs from the islands of the Šibenik region will further captivate the audience. Finally, the concert will conclude with the lively choreography of Podravski svati by Ivan Ivančan, Ph.D.
With the resonant echoes of the cimbal, mih, lijerica, and dangubica, the spirited melodies of Dinaric songs, silent kolo dances, and energetic female songs from the Dalmatian region, as well as a plethora of Šokac songs and dances from Baranja, accompanied by tambourines and bagpipes, the LADO Ensemble will open the treasury of vibrant folk costumes and dances from different Croatian regions and countries where the Croats reside, emphasizing the richness of dance, movement, language, and sound.
Once again, through its choreographies, along with outstanding artistic interpretations and achievements, the LADO Ensemble remains a beacon of traditional Croatian culture and a faithful guardian of the Croatian identity at home and abroad.
