Date created: 17.07.2023.

Braco Dimitrijević's autobiography Louvre is my studio, street is my museum was presented last night, 16 July in the Rector’s Palace atrium. Joining the author were the writer Staša Aras and Fraktura's editor-in-chief Seid Serdarević.

– This autobiography can really be read in a short time, which I can testify to because I devoured it in no time. It can be read as a novel, a textbook, a catalogue and as a theoretical book, not only from the world of fine arts but also from life and philosophy, because conceptual art and the avant-garde simply crosses over into all spheres of life and unites everything at one point. Braco Dimitrijević is certainly one of the most important and deserving people who made the whole world of conceptual art clearer, not only in our area, but also in the whole world – said writer Staša Aras.

Louvre is my studio, the street is my museum by Braco Dimitrijević depicts an artistic and life journey on five continents, on which the author embarked carrying with him parts of his homelands, Sarajevo and Dubrovnik, the legacy of his father, one of the most important Yugoslav avant-garde artists, Vojo Dimitrijević, and his mother, Jelena Dimitrijević. With his autobiography, Dimitrijević shows that passion, talent, perseverance, and persistence in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles are the elements that are necessary for the world to understand and accept differences, and that the artistic language is universal and understandable to everyone, from monarchs to zoo animals.
