Clarinetist Sobrino and pianist Moretti in the Rector's Palace atrium

Italian clarinetist Giampiero Sobrino and pianist Roberto Moretti will perform at the 66th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, on Sunday, July 19 at 21:30 pm in the Rector's Palace atrium.

Giampiero Sobrino, is a prominent Italian clarinetist and also the artistic director of the Arena di Verona, who, in his twentieth year, became the first solo clarinetist of the Turin Philharmonic Orchestra and later in the Fondazione Arena di Verona. He has participated in many important international clarinet competitions in Italy and France, taught at conservatories and music colleges, held master classes, worked with the finest conductors and musicians and has participated in numerous concerts and recordings of chamber music all over the world. At this concert he will perform aside his fellow countryman, pianist Roberto Moretti who is the winner of many Italian and international competitions and has more than 400 concerts in his career.

Festival audience will have a chance to listen performances of Donizetti's Concertino for Clarinet in B-flat major, Liszt's transcription for piano of Isolde's final aria from Wagner's opera Tristan und Isolde, Bassi’s Concert fantasy on motifs from Verdi's Rigoletto, Saint-Saens’ Swan in transcription for clarinet and piano, Liszt’s Faust waltz transcriptions for piano solo in which he pays tribute to the original author Gounod, and finally Poulenc’s Sonata for Clarinet and Piano, Op. 184, originally composed for Benny Goodman and Leonard Bernstein.

Tickets for the performance are available online on the website of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival at www.dubrovnik-festival.hr, in retail outlets in the Festival Palace (Od Sigurate 1), on the Stradun, in the Multimedia Centre Visia, in the Culture and Information Centre in Luža, the Old Bell Tower, and one hour before the performance at the box office at venue entrance.
