"The Melancholy Women of Ragusa" premiered in Gradac Park

Date created: 19.08.2023.

The author of the text Marijana Fumić and the director Dora Ruždjak Podolski chose nine exceptional women while researching Dubrovnik's historical material from the 13th to the 20th century, combining their intriguing stories into a unique stage piece, The Melancholy Women of Ragusa, which premiered last night, 17 August in Gradac Park.

The audience followed the captivating, nostalgic journey through Dubrovnik's history from the perspective of nine women with bated breath. The directorial turn in stage and auditorium placement when choosing the location offered a new perspective towards the city itself, which Dora Ruždjak Podolski very effectively integrated into the play, while the actresses of The Melancholy Women of Ragusa led the audience through the lives and destinies of Dubrovnik’s women, where Marija Gučetić was embodied by Nataša Dangubić, Filip Menčetić by Gloria Dubelj, Maruša hodočasnica by Anica Kontić, Jelena Dorotka Hofmann by Nataša Kopeč, Jelena Pucić Sorkočević by Iva Kraljević, Anica Bošković by Lana Meniga, Pavle Ćelović by Lidija Penić-Grgaš, Lucija Miladinović by Lucija Rukavina, Nika Našimoka by Nikolina Prkačin, and all their men was Marin Klišmanić.
