In the description of the book, the publisher states that the very title of the autobiography Louvre is my studio, the street is my museum succinctly, precisely and accurately describes the artistic work of Braco Dimitrijević, one of the most important contemporary artists in the world. From his first exhibition, which he held as a ten-year-old in his native Sarajevo, to the world's largest museums and galleries, Braco Dimitrijević uncompromisingly opens new perspectives on art, always relying on tradition that he reads differently, unencumbered by prejudices. Braco Dimitrijević’s autobiography depicts an artistic and life journey on five continents, on which the author embarked carrying with him parts of his homelands, Sarajevo and Dubrovnik, the legacy of his father, one of the most important Yugoslav avant-garde artists, Vojo Dimitrijević, and his mother, Jelena Dimitrijević. With his autobiography, Dimitrijević shows that passion, talent, perseverance and persistence in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles are the elements that are necessary for the world to understand and accept differences, and that the artistic language is universal and understandable to everyone, from monarchs to zoo animals.
