Velo Misto is guesting at the 74th Festival

The play, which bears the title of the iconic Miljenko Smoje workVelo Misto, directed by Marina Pejnović and performed by the Zagreb City Theatre Komedija, is guesting at the Festival from 22 to 24 August. All performances on the Revelin Fort terrace start at 9 p.m., and tickets are sold out. The sponsor of these performances at the 74th Dubrovnik Festival is the Dubrovnik Airport.

In March of this year, Zagreb City Theatre Komedija premiered Velo Misto, told in theatrical language, based on the lively chronicles of Croatian journalist and writer Miljenko Smoje. In addition to Marina Pejnović, the director of the play, the creative team consists of Patrik Sečen, director's assistant, set designer Liberta Mišan, costume designer Petra Pavičić, choreographer Dejan Jakovljević, composer and sound designer Vid Adam Hribar, lighting designer Elvis Butković, costume designer’s assistant Eva Karakaš Bedrina, and speech advisor Joško Ševo.

The cast includes Vinko Kraljević in the role of Narrator, Damir Lončar in the role of the Repairman, Ivan Čuić as Papundek, Ognjen Milovanović as Four-eyes, Vanda Winter will play Violeta, Ivan Glowatzky will play Pegula, Marin Klišmanić Duje, Dajana Čuljak Ana, Ana Magud Kate, Ivan Magud Tonči, Filip Juričić Ferata, Nera Stipičević will play Marjeta, Adnan Prohić will play Rico the Policeman, Davor Svedružić will play Strikan, Goran Malus will play Netjak, the Countryman and the Priest, Saša Buneta will play Picaferaj and Nino, Željko Duvnjak will play Doc Vice, Zlatko Ožbolt take the role of the Professor, Stojan and Mićo, and Jasna Palić Picukarić Granny Marta, Mare Mulica, Marjeta's mother, Duje's mother and the Peasant. The members of the Komedija Theatre Choir are Aleta Arbanas Rendulić, Kristina Habuš, Dora Masle, Tea Nuić, Irena Raduka, Dino Antonić, Boris Barberić, Dario Došlić, Božidar Peričić, Zoran Simikić and Matija Škovrc, while the voice and video narrator is Dražen Bratulić.

Marina Pejnović has directed at the Croatian National Theatre Zagreb, the Kerempuh Satirical Theatre, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, the Croatian National Theatre Varaždin, the Croatian National Theatre Šibenik, the Zagreb Youth Theatre, &TD, and in early 2023 with the play Velo Misto she is collaborating with Zagreb City Theatre Komedija for the first time. In addition to theatre directing, she has also worked as animated film dubbing director and director of radio dramas, radio documentaries and cultural and sporting events. She won the 2020 Fadil Hadžić Days of Satire Award and the Zlatna Vila International Festival in Prijedor Award for Best Direction for the play The Notebook of Robi K.
