The Zagreb Soloists were founded in 1953 as part of Radio Zagreb under the leadership of acclaimed cellist Antonio Janigro. Since 2012, the ensemble has performed alongside famous violinist Sreten Krstić as its concertmaster, who is also the concertmaster of the Munich Philharmonic. They are known for their wide repertoire which includes baroque, classicist, romantic and contemporary works, with a special focus on Croatian authors from earlier periods as well as contemporary composers, and with which they performed in the world's most prestigious concert halls. They recorded more than seventy albums, and among their more recent releases stands out the album of Ernesto Cordero’s works featuring distinguished soloists which was nominated for the Latin Grammy award. In 2010, they were awarded the Orlando Grand Prix for their special artistic contributions to the entirety of the programme of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.

Dubrovnik-born clarinettist Marija Pavlović, a passionate chamber musician and member of the DeBewoners ensemble in Antwerp, graduated from the Zagreb Academy of Music in the class of Milko Pravdić, after which she trained at the Salzburg Mozarteum in the class of Alois Brandhofer.
